  • THE SAME STREAM OF LIFE.<br />
<br />
I’ve always loved this poem by Rabindranath Tagore.<br />
<br />
"The same stream of life that runs through my veins night & day runs through the world & dances in rhythmic measures. <br />
<br />
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass & breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves & flowers. <br />
<br />
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment."<br />
<br />
I discovered Rabindranath Tagore about the same time I made this photograph. I love how the waves gracefully flow atop the ocean’s surface; how they attract the sun’s light. Water and light: two elements essential to life. I recall sitting in a small boat on the Pacific Ocean, thinking how visceral the moment was. How the sun and water accommodated my existence. It was incredibly beautiful.

  • IMAGINE SIPPIN’ A GLASS OF ROSÉ FROM ACROSS THE LAKE.<br />
<br />
When the light of day blends with what will become the absence of light at night, Mother Nature sometimes presents in the sky hues of yellow, red, pink, orange, and bluish-purple .<br />
<br />
Even if wine isn’t your thing, or even if rosé isn’t your thing, I can imagine enjoying a glass on the dock, feet hanging into the warm water, and taking it all in. Why rosé? Because it pairs well with the colours of the sky, of course! And, because of the stillness, and the quiet sounds of the moment.<br />
<br />
A challenge of photographing in this situation, apart from spilling wine, is capturing other colours subtlety on display… such as green of the trees across the lake. It would be far too easy to lose them to shadow. <br />
<br />
Captured in Haliburton County, central Ontario, Canada. <br />
<br />
Haliburton is known as a tourist and cottage area for its scenery and resident artists.

  • The Danube is Europe's second longest river after the Volga. It is notable for being classified as an international waterway.<br />
<br />
The river originates in the Black Forest in Germany as the much smaller Brigach and Breg rivers which join at the German town of Donaueschingen. After that it is known as the Danube and flows southeastward for a distance of some 2850 km (1771 miles), passing through four Central and Eastern European capitals, before emptying into the Black Sea via the Danube Delta in Romania and Ukraine.<br />
<br />
Known to history as one of the long-standing frontiers of the Roman Empire, the river flows through or acts as part of the borders of ten countries: Germany (7.5%), Austria (10.3%), Slovakia (5.8%), Hungary (11.7%), Croatia (4.5%), Serbia (10.3%), Bulgaria (5.2%), Moldova (1.6%), Ukraine (3.8%) and Romania (28.9%).

Green sand is created by Olivine, a common mineral in Big Island lava. It stays deposited on this beach because it is heavier than other components of the lava.

  • Buda Castle (Hungarian: Budavári Palota) is the historical castle complex of the Hungarian kings in Budapest, Hungary, first completed in 1265. <br />
<br />
In the past, it was also called Royal Palace (Hungarian: Királyi-palota) and Royal Castle (Hungarian: Királyi Vár).<br />
<br />
Buda Castle was built on the southern tip of Castle Hill, surrounded by what is known as the Castle District (Hun: Várnegyed), famous for its Medieval, Baroque and 19th century living quarters and public buildings. It is linked to Adam Clark Square and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge by the Castle Hill Funicular.<br />

  • Since it was built in 1920 by Chapman and Oxley architects, the Leuty Lifeguard Station has helped to save thousands of lives. Over the years it has been moved four times to keep it close to Lake Ontario's edge. During the 1980's the Leuty had fallen into disrepair and was threatened with demolition. Local residents formed S.O.S. (Save Our Station), and enough money was raised to restore the structure. It has since been declared an important historic site by the Toronto (Canada) Historical Board.

  • Life viewed through a window. To an extent, isn’t that what photography is? Looking through the glass, or window to the world, through a photographer’s lens? Obtaining a view to a scene that perhaps one can’t see in person. But the view is how the photographer saw it, isn’t it? Part of photography’s challenge is that a camera doesn’t capture a scene how the photographer experienced it. Getting the image from one’s head to a photograph others can see in print or on screen… well, let’s say they can be two different things.<br />
<br />
Two people can witness the exact same scene at the same time, and walk away with different perspectives of what they just saw. It’s part of what may make photography such a personal journey, if it’s a journey one enjoys making. Otherwise, snapshots will do.<br />
<br />
A morsel of food for thought.<br />
<br />
The above photograph, captured in the hills of Haliburton County of central Ontario, was captured through a window. I can’t recall if the window was opened or closed. But it opens a window for the viewer. Nature is beautiful.<br />

  • I’m assuming there really was a reason to post this sign. To me, it seems obvious it’s the end of the road. Maybe the lesson is to sit straight when driving to ensure you have a clear view over the hood of the vehicle. So you don’t drive over a cliff and plunge into the ocean.<br />
<br />
Speaking of cliffs, the massive one across the bay showcases layer upon layer of colourful geological rock. Abandoned wind turbines of the former Kamoa Windmill Farm also caught my eye.

Between 1994 and 1997 the quarry was filled in and a public park was created.
